     making  appropriations   under  art.  IX,   sec.  17(c),                                                                   
     Constitution   of  the   State  of   Alaska,  from   the                                                                   
     constitutional  budget reserve  fund; and providing  for

Chair  Hoffman  stated that  the  bill,  HB 287,  dealt  with                                                                   
early  funding  of  education  has  passed  both  bodies.  He                                                                   
stated that  up education items  that passed in HB  287 which                                                                   
were  also in  HB  286, the  operating  budget, and  removing                                                                   
those identical items from HB 286.

Vice-Chair  Seaton   moved  that  the  Committee   adopt  the                                                                   
following   in  the   Department  of   Education  and   Early

closes  items 1,  2, 4,  5, 6,  7, 8,  9, 13,  and 14  in the                                                                   
Department  of  Education  and  Early  Development's  budget,                                                                   
leaving items 3, 10, 11, 12, 15 and 16 open.                                                                                    
                                                                                                                                
Chair Hoffman  announced that pink  slips would not  be sent.                                                                   
He stressed  that it  was a precautionary  measure  to ensure                                                                   
that they would retain their positions.

Vice-Chair moved  that the Committee  adopt the  following in

when there were  more items to discuss. He  stated that there
